Don-Bur has announced a £300,000 investment in solar panel installations across three of its key sites.
The commercial vehicle bodywork manufacturer, based in Stoke-on-Trent, has made the investment with the aim of reducing carbon emissions and promoting renewable energy sources.
Installation work has not long been completed at its main site on Mossfield Road, its service base on Clarence Road and Sapphire Graphics site, all in Longton, with the panels’ performance already being reported as “encouraging.”
Don-Bur plans to use 95 per cent of the electricity produced by the solar panels for its own operations, with only five per cent being returned to the national grid, reflecting the company’s proactive energy approach.
Managing Director Dave Burton, pictured above, said: “These solar panel installations represent out dedication to sustainability.
“By harnessing solar power, we are reducing our carbon footprint and enhancing operational efficiency.”
The 162kW Mossfield Road solar panel installation will have a carbon offset of 56 tonnes per annum, whilst the 158kW installation on Clarence Road will have a carbon offset of 54 tonnes per annum.
At Sapphire Graphics, a 35kW solar panel installation will have a carbon offset of 14 tonnes per annum.
Family-run Don-Bur’s main manufacturing plant covers 24 acres and employs 550 people.
