Keon Homes is celebrating double success at a prestigious property awards ceremony.
The Burntwood-based affordable housing developer was named Social Housing Award champion at the Insider Media Midlands Residential Property Awards.
The firm, which is working on 10 live projects across the East and West Midlands, was recognised by judges for its ability to unlock complex parcels of land to create the communities of the future in Great Barr, Newcastle-under-Lyme and Blackberry Court, an ambitious extra care scheme in Lichfield.
And its staff member 26-year-old Ben Sharp also came away with the title of Emerging Property Person of the Year, beating off several talented professionals in the sector.
Keon Homes Managing Director Richard Williams said: “This is a milestone moment for the company and is the best possible way to close our fifth year in business.
“We have a mantra that everyone subscribes to and that’s all about ‘Doing the Right Thing’, which is what we try to do when we bring brownfield schemes back into the ownership of local people, giving them a place they call home.”
Ben has successfully taken on and secured one of the most complex planning applications in the history of Keon Homes to bring Holyhead Road in Coventry to life, a city centre affordable house scheme that will create 73 sustainable properties.
He has been praised for his ability to manage multiple relationships with one vision in mind – to unlock difficult parcels of land.
Warren Bolton, Director of Keon Homes, said: “We’re a relatively young business operating in the demanding Midlands property sector, so these two awards will elevate our platform to attract the best possible talent and to secure new projects that help bring affordable housing to market.
“Ben richly deserves his award and is exactly the talented professional we want to build Keon Homes on.”
Meanwhile, Capital & Centric’s Goods Yard development of new homes, workspaces, bars, eateries and stores in Stoke-on-Trent, won the Social Impact Award at the same ceremony.
A spokesperson for the awards said: “This bringing back to life of derelict land through the creation of a new neighbourhood ticks all the boxes when it comes to wider positive impacts: job creation, new social assets, public-private partnership and a catalyst for further investment in the local area. It certainly delivers the regeneration goods.”
- Earlier this year, Keon Homes expanded into new offices and was named best small construction business in the UK to work for.
