The CEO of the UK’s leading trade organisation for the warehousing sector selected a Stoke-on-Trent firm as one of the stop-off points in a pilgrimage around the country.
Browns Distribution hosted Clare Bottle from the UK Warehousing Association (UKWA) as part of an Around the Warehouses in 80 Visits tour during the UKWA-designated 2024 The Year of Warehousing highlighting the sector’s work and its important contribution to the economy.
Clare was given a tour of the new HQ at Distribution House in Tunstall and shown the workings of the entire operation.
She also met members of the team to gain their perspective on the industry and their work – and, in a playful twist, was invited to take on some head-to-head challenges like speed pick and pack, box stacking, and a bubble wrap popping contest.
David Brown Jnr, Managing Director of Browns Distribution, said: “Clare’s visit during the Around the Warehouses in 80 Visits initiative was a great opportunity to showcase the hard work and innovation that drives Browns Distribution.
“We’re honoured to be recognised in this important year for the warehousing sector, and we’re committed to continuing our growth while supporting the community that has supported us for generations.”
Clare commented: “The role of warehousing is becoming increasingly central to our everyday lives, and at UKWA it’s our job to turn the spotlight onto the million plus people who work in warehousing, all the great work they do for the sector and their communities.
“My visit to Browns Distribution was an opportunity to look behind the scenes at how it delivers its advanced logistics services, teaming with other organisations while supporting local charity the Dougie Mac which all adds up to continuing a fine legacy for this family business.”
