Call for cyclists to wheel in donations for Dougie Mac fundraiser

1 min read

Entries are now being taken for a popular North Staffordshire charity cycle ride, which raises vital funds for Dougie Mac each year.

The annual Dougie Mac Bike Ride is being held this year on 8 September, at the Michelin Athletic Club in Trent Vale, Stoke-on-Trent.

Cyclists have the choice of two routes, a challenging 108-mile journey to and from Llangollen, or a 48 mile ride through the Shropshire and Cheshire countryside.

The event is a significant fundraiser for the charity, with all money raised helping to fund Dougie Mac’s provision of support for local people facing a life-limiting illness, offering excellent care and help when they need it most.

Last year’s cyclists ready to take on the charity challenge.

Deborah Vickers, Head of Business and Events Fundraising at Dougie Mac, said: “Our bike ride is a great event and over the years our cyclists have raised an incredible amount of money.

“Every year, Dougie Mac cares for children, young adults and adults across Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire, who are facing a life-limiting condition, as well as offering support to their families.

“Without the amazing, continued support of our local community, we simply wouldn’t be able to offer our vital services for local people.”

Michelin donates its facilities and provides refreshments for volunteers and the Dougie Mac staff helping at the event, as part of its long-standing partnership with the charity.

Lee Machin, General Manager of the Michelin Athletic Club, said: “Last year we had a great turnout with 265 cyclists of all abilities taking part.

“We hope to see as many cyclists as possible sign-up for the challenge this year, as the money raised supports such important work at Dougie Mac.”
