Bar operator plans to take on more venues – and says Staffordshire is the focus

A cocktail bar concept known for its bottomless brunches has opened its third branch – and unveiled plans to dramatically up its number of sites with a focus on Staffordshire and the surrounding areas.

Breakthrough Bars, which acquired Bloom venues in Hanley, in Stoke-on-Trent, and Newcastle under Lyme has opened a flagship site in Wigan.

Director Ryan Fanthorpe, who is based in and runs the company from Stoke-on-Trent, said: “People love our Bloom bars because of the cocktails, small plates and Instagrammable surroundings.

“The refurbishment of the site where we have created Bloom Wigan turned out to be a bigger job than we expected but it is now open and things are going very, very well.”

He added: “Come January, we will tidy up the Hanley and Newcastle bars and go from there.

“I’d like to get us up to 10 to 15 sites and, as I live in Stoke-on-Trent, I’d like them to be based in Staffordshire or as close to Staffordshire as possible.”

Ryan said he has his eye on towns including Leek and Congleton as possible places to take the Bloom brand.

Breakthrough Bars also operates several other venues including Blame Frida in Stone, which used to be Bloom Stone before being acquired and given a sprinkle of Mexican flair.

Bloom’s owner says customers are drawn by the cocktails, small plates and Instagrammable surroundings.
