Free social media support for town centre businesses

A new programme is offering free social media support to businesses in Tamworth town centre. 

Businesses have been invited by Tamworth Borough Council to get involved in the initiative which will help them to improve their use of social media for promotion and to drive both sales and footfall to the town centre. 

Councillor Nova Arkney, Portfolio Holder for infrastructure, heritage and local economy said: “This is an ideal opportunity for our town centre businesses to receive free social media support to help develop, grow and expand. 

“We know many businesses, shops and restaurants are working under very different conditions with the cost-of-living crisis and inflation. Therefore, we really want to reach out help our businesses with their social media content and promotion.” 

Social Boost is delivered in partnership with social media business experts Digital Islands and funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. 

To join, businesses should complete an online form giving details of existing social media profiles they have. 

Eligible participating business owners will receive two to three hours of one-to-one support with a social media specialist. 

The support will also include a review of existing social media channels, one-to-one bespoke guidance and support, access to a provision of templates and resources to support the development of a marketing plan, a social media plan or strategy, and a content planning tool.  

The programme will also recommend free or low-cost software tools to support use of social media.  

Two photography sessions will also be held in the town centre for local business owners to utilise as part of content creation, and for a chance to feature in the Tamworth town centre business hub newsletter.
