A cosmetic scientist who followed her dream to launch her own product range has scooped a national award for her brand.
Leanne King was spurred on to launch Beauty Favours during the Covid-19 pandemic after being made redundant from her full-time job whilst pregnant with her first baby.
Her range focusses on sustainability, performance and style and it is her values that helped to clinch the title of Cosmetics Brand UK in the Corporate LiveWire Global Awards 2024/25.
Leanne, who started her career in cosmetic formulation for No7 at Boots, said: “To be acknowledged by an awards scheme like this is an amazing achievement – we are a new brand and are still building it up.”
Leanne runs the business with help on the technology side from her husband Graham.
She took the opportunity to set up her own business as a way of working around the two children they had during the Covid pandemic.
“I had always wanted my own product range and had previous experience in creating products, so I felt confident being able to do it around looking after my children,” Leanne added.
“I want to keep building the brand and start looking at developing ranges for other people as well.”
The Beauty Favours range started out with eco-friendly, handmade shampoo bars and has just been extended to include six different loose powder dry shampoos, which have been designed to leave no visible residue.
The businesses is based at Amerton Artisans within Amerton Farm, in Stowe by Chartley, near Stafford.
