A firm specialising in natural dog treats and chews has said it sees its acquisition as a “significant opportunity” to grow.

Pet Treats Wholesale, based in Burton upon Trent, has been acquired by Swedish group The Nutriment Company.

Pet Treats Wholesale has been a supplier to The Nutrient Company for many years and it is hoped the deal will help to take Pet Treats Wholesale’s products to a broader range of customers both in the UK and across mainland Europe.

Director Louis Jolivet said: “We are thrilled to join The Nutriment Company and look forward to working with the entire team as they continue their impressive journey.

“As a key treats and chews manufacturer within the group, we see this as a significant opportunity to scale our operations, enhance our product offerings, and share our expertise with the team.”

A spokesperson for The Nutriment Company said: “We are super proud to have chosen the best players in the market and are beyond excited to share that we are expanding our horizons once more with the acquisition of Pet Treats Wholesale.

“Our growth momentum is strong – and this exciting addition to our family is a testament to our commitment to natural pet treats in our product offer. Moreover, all of our brands will benefit significantly from the product expertise, driving excellence across the board and amplifying our collective impact.”

The firm has made four acquisitions this year – three of them in the UK – and sells to 20 international markets. It has more than 13,000 retail outlets and more than 100,000 online customers.

Law firm Freeths acted for the shareholders of Pet Treats Wholesale on the deal.
