The owner of an art trails company based in Burton upon Trent has picked up an award for work within the community.

Tilley Bancroft, of Making Trails, has been raising the profile of public art by helping people explore their local area through art trails.

Daily Focus recently reported that the summer’s Burton Barrel Roll saw more than 31,000 visitors flock to the town, pumping an additional £600,000 into the local economy.

Tilley was given an extra reason to celebrate by being crowned Outstanding Woman with Community Impact at The Women’s Awards East Midlands, an event to recognise outstanding achievements of women in the region.

She told Daily Focus: “Being nominated and shortlisted was winning enough, and being in a room full of such inspirational women was an incredible moment for me.

“What was most noticeable was the supportive and celebratory atmosphere of the night, women supporting women. It was the most joyous and meaningful awards ceremony I’ve had the privilege of attending.”

Tilley added: “Having an award like this feels like a very keen reminder that the hard work has been recognised and appreciated. It motivates you to remain ambitious in all future plans.”
