FIRST LOOK: Inside Greene King’s new pub brand launching in Stoke-on-Trent

National pub company Greene King will open the doors to a new experience-led dining concept next week after choosing Stoke-on-Trent as the home for its first venue.

A seven-figure sum has been invested into creating HighTales on the site of the former Hem Heath Hungry Horse pub in Trentham, a venture which has also created 30 jobs.

Daily Focus can now provide a sneak peak inside before the pub, which is unlike anywhere else in the city, opens on Monday.

Work on the pub, which originally opened 12 years ago, has included opening up the dining areas.

It can now accommodate 174 people inside, with space for another 100 outside, where there is a food truck and two digital darts rooms.

This heated, covered, outside space will also be used for monthly film nights.

A digital darts league is in the pipelines, and weekends will see live music and quiz nights.

All-but-one of the former Hem Heath staff members have decided to stay on for the HighTales launch.

General Manager Simon Doney told Daily Focus: “We offer different experiences to match full families so we have a teenagers’ den, a tots’ room, bands going on, comedy nights, a cinema outside and darts pods.

“There are so many different aspects that we hope people will connect with and enjoy.”
