Themed Fridays will be part of a new-look retail and events programme when Leek’s rejuvenated indoor markets re-open.
Staffordshire Moorlands District Council has invested £3.4 million in the town’s Butter and Trestle markets to provide modern, flexible spaces featuring new food and drink units as well as refreshed retail units, improved customer comfort, safety and security, and wifi.
The council has announced that new themed Friday markets will see:
- Fashion Friday on the first Friday of every month
- Foodie Friday features on the second Friday
- A focus on Makers and Artists on the third Friday
- Vintage Vendredi taking over on the fourth Friday
Applications are now open for traders who are interested in booking a stall.
Councillor Matt Swindlehurst, Cabinet member for Leisure and Tourism, said: “The market halls have been transformed to provide spaces and facilities that will attract a diverse range of traders and visitors and keep our markets at the heart of the community.
“The refreshed buildings will host a varied programme of markets and events and I’m delighted to announce these new themed markets every Friday in the Trestle Market.”

- It was announced in August that the markets would reopen in October, but this has been delayed. Daily Focus has contacted the council for an update on the reopening but has received no response.
Hope the foodie Friday, has some plant based stalls?
