Couple hope community will help new soft play centre fly high

A husband-and-wife team behind a new aeroplane-themed soft play centre say they hope it will become a hub used by all the community.

Raj Singh and his wife Fal opened GrandKidz in the heart of Lichfield town centre just before Christmas.

Aimed at babies up to seven-year-olds, the former Little Green Frog Cafe unit now boasts a soft play area, arts and crafts room, iPad station, sensory room and a café serving food and drinks from local suppliers.

Special touches such as pilot decks and ‘passport control’ and ‘security check’ areas help to give it a unique theme.

But Raj says he has seen a demand for the site for other uses.

Another part of aeroplane-themed play at GrandKidz.

He told Daily Focus: “We have got two children, a two-year-old and a five-year-old, so we have been to many soft play places ourselves but believed we could do it better. In particular, by providing somewhere for parents with very young children as well as toddlers.

“There has been a lot of interest in GrandKidz and it has proved popular ever since bookings opened three weeks in advance.

“We will be hosting birthday parties but also want to provide our of hours classes for mothers-to-be, become a base for things like baby massage sessions and also welcome the community in for networking events. There are lots of possibilities.”

The venture has created five new jobs.
