An investigative journalist who has won multiple awards for his work on the Snowden leaks, the hacking of Britain’s largest ISP TalkTalk and his exposés of fraud in the internet dating industry has been announced as the headline speaker at a free cybersecurity event.

Cybercon Staffordshire is designed for key decision-makers and will offer real-world insights and practical solutions for businesses across the region.

Headline speaker Geoff White has covered technology for the BBC and Channel 4 News and will be talking about a £1.5 billion world heist, as well as all-important cyber lessons organisations need to be aware of.

The event takes place at University of Staffordshire’s Catalyst Building, in Stoke-on-Trent, on Wednesday, 2 April.

Other speakers and their topics include:

  • Ex-Cyber detective and advisor Adam Pilton – Cracking the Case of the Insider Threat.
  • Simon Norsworthy, Sales Engineer at global cybersecurity company Bitdefender – 24/7 Security and Monitoring.
  • Vimal Raj Sampathkumar, of IT firm ManageEngine – Fortifying Endpoints in a Threat-Driven World.

Cybercon Staffordshire has been organised by Abzorbed IT Solutions, based in Stoke-on-Trent.

Director Usman Shah said: “As cyber threats continue to evolve, the need for robust, proactive security strategies is more critical than ever.

“Therefore, we are thrilled to bring together some of the brightest minds in the cybersecurity industry for this event where they will be able to offer real-world insights and practical solutions for businesses across the region.

“Geoff has won multiple awards for his work and will share some amazing insights as well as advice – his words really will speak for themselves.

“Plus Adam, Simon and Vimal will also be providing thought provoking conversations with all four taking part in a panel Q&A at the end of the day.”

The event starts with a welcome breakfast at 9am. A racing sim competition has been arranged to add a fun twist.

Places are limited and early registration – via this link – is encouraged.
