A vehicle conversion specialist has launched a £100,000 Centre of Excellence to upskill its workforce and develop the next generation of skilled employees.

Hixon-based Bri-Stor Systems, part of the HEX Group, welcomed Sir Gavin Williamson, MP for Stone, Great Wyrley and Penkridge, to open the facility, which will serve as a dedicated training hub for apprentices and the wider workforce.

The facility, which features cutting-edge technology such as virtual reality training, is designed to provide a comprehensive induction for new starters, refresher courses for existing staff and personal and professional development opportunities for career progression.

Karen Barnacle, Group People and Culture Director, said: “The Centre of Excellence is just one example of how we’re investing in our people, ensuring they can face new challenges and continuously develop.

“With a dedicated learning and development group leader, responsible for the centre, we’re able to offer industry-leading mentorship and provide the business with a continuous flow of highly skilled workers.”

Tom Nadin, Head of Projects and Business Services at Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce, who also attended the opening, adds: “This facility doesn’t just enhance the professional development of employees but also strengthens our local economy by ensuring businesses are equipped with the talent they need to thrive in an increasingly competitive market. It demonstrates the company’s commitment to growth, innovation and a brighter future for Staffordshire.”

Daily Focus reported last month that the HEX Group was urging the government to take further action to help businesses of all sizes unlock the potential of apprenticeships. The company welcomes around 20 new apprentices each year.
