An apprentice has broken another record at her training provider by being named Apprentice of the Year for a second time, two years after she became the first female winner of the award.
Macy Isherwood, of Audley, is the first apprentice in electrical training specialists Rebus Training’s 15-year history to win the top award twice. The 21-year-old, who recently passed her end point assessment with distinction, was recognised for her outstanding achievements during her four-year apprenticeship.
She was supported at the ceremony, which was held at Port Vale FC, by her family and her employers at Kier Group.
Macy, who now plans to complete further qualifications such as the 2391 inspection and testing course, said: “I feel delighted and very grateful to be awarded Rebus Apprentice of the Year for the second time. The support I have received from Rebus during my apprenticeship has been brilliant.
“The tutors are all very knowledgeable, offering help and support throughout my training. I am also very appreciative to my employers at Kier who have supported me to complete my apprenticeship.
“I would recommend that any other females looking to join the electrical industry don’t hesitate and just go for it.”
Gary Jackson, Joint Managing Director at Rebus Training, praised Macy’s dedication, hard work and proactive attitude. He said: “’Macy has shown dedication, hard work, and growth throughout her apprenticeship which has truly set her apart.
“She began her journey with enthusiasm and an eagerness to learn, and over time, she’s developed into a skilled, quality electrician. Her commitment to excellence, attention to detail and hard work is highly commendable.
“She has not only excelled technically but has also demonstrated a proactive attitude, and a strong work ethic. It’s clear that she has a bright future ahead, and we were proud to recognise her exceptional achievements at the awards evening.”
The ceremony saw 12 awards presented, with the Employer of the Year award presented to Smart Electrical Installations for their outstanding support and dedication to apprenticeships. A charity raffle raised £870 for the Hubb Foundation.
The evening, which was attended by more than 200 guests, was supported by sponsors Midlands Power Networks, Bet 365, Kier Group, Midlands Electrical Fire and Security, H and B Electrical, Process Control Services and Therser UK.
