Almost 100 jobs have been created by businesses flocking to a new Stoke-on-Trent industrial estate.

200 Scotia Road, which comprises of 10 high-specification industrial units, has been developed on the former Dudson pottery factory site in Tunstall.

A number of new tenants have moved in in recent weeks and months, many of them creating new jobs as they expand.

United Networks Group has relocated from a nearby site to a new base which provides office space for its companies.

The organisation is now embarking on a ‘significant’ recruitment drive with 60 jobs up for grabs.

Dean Fielding, Managing Director of United Networks Group, said: “This new environment fosters collaboration and innovation as we work towards our goals. But it’s not just about the offices; the unit is also a hub for storing essential equipment, plant tools, and materials. Our yard is bustling with activity, serving as a storage area for our machinery and resources.

“We’re looking to fill 60 direct labour positions right here in the Stoke area. It’s an exciting time for us.”

Positions available include digger machine drivers, HGV drivers, labourers, cable splicers and admin roles.

Another 10 jobs have been created by door manufacturer Comp Door which is using its new space as a distribution base to serve the company’s factory in Chesterton.

American company Avid Controls, which makes component parts for wind turbines, is being welcomed to 200 Scotia Road this week. It will be the firm’s first UK site.

Other businesses to have secured leases at the estate include solicitors Knights, broadband provider Freedom Fibre and Arcflex Hose and Bellows, a specialist manufacturer that will use the facility to increase production capacity. The company was bought out of administration last year by Hydraflex.

Jennie Brown, a spokesperson for Vengrove, the owner and developer of the estate, said: “We are thrilled to welcome such a strong mix of tenants to 200 Scotia Road.

“The rapid uptake of units highlights the demand for high-quality industrial space in Stoke, and we’re confident that these businesses will thrive in their new premises.”

Knights was the first tenant to move in and is using the site as its records centre, which supports its 26 offices nationwide. The office has space for 12 people, with room for further growth.

Spokesperson Jacob Cotterill said: “The move to 200 Scotia Road is part of our programme investment in providing a first-class working environment from which we can deliver premium professional services to clients.

“The site forms part of the operational heart of the business that is largely based here in North Staffordshire and will be followed up with the re-opening of our biggest office at The Brampton in Newcastle. The refurbishment there underscores the value of our local roots as we get ready to double the size of the business in the next few years.”

The site was home to Dudson until it went into administration in 2019.

It is now close to full occupancy with just two units available, which are being offered by Mounsey Chartered Surveyors and Harris Lamb.
