The Gingerbread Centre asks businesses to help ‘bake’ a difference

Businesses are being encouraged to support vulnerable families through a National Gingerbread Day fundraiser.

The Gingerbread Centre, a charity which operates across Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire, is asking companies to sign-up for a free corporate fundraising pack and to raise money on the day, which falls on 5 June.

The pack will include a gingerbread recipe – as well as other materials such as t-shirts and posters – which can be used to develop biscuit-themed fundraising activities.

Chief Executive Trevor Cottam said: “We’re excited to mark National Gingerbread Day with our own fundraising appeal.

“Every biscuit baked and every pound raised helps us to provide critical services, advice, and advocacy for those who need it most.

“All of our work is about supporting vulnerable families, but this can only be achieved with the help of individuals and businesses across the area who help us raise vital funds to continue our work.”

The Gingerbread Centre supports vulnerable families across Stoke-on-Trent, as well as Newcastle-under-Lyme and the Staffordshire Moorlands.

As well as providing supported accommodation in 33 units, its service includes an activity club for children, excursions for families and a safe, welcoming space where families can rebuild their lives.

Trevor added: “Our staff and volunteers transform lives through compassion.

“Now we’re asking businesses to get on board and organise a work-based fundraiser to help vulnerable families pull themselves out of crisis and look to the future with confidence.”
