Farm park splashes out on new play equipment and food offerings to boost summer holiday fun

A popular farm park has invested £125,000 in new play equipment and a new summer food court as it prepares to kick off its biggest ever beach themed summer party.

The National Forest Adventure Farm has installed a new wooden assault course with an 18ft eagle tower and slide, balance beams and bridges ready for families to visit over the summer holidays.

From tomorrow (19 July) until 1 September, the attraction in Tatenhill will be hosting its Farmarama event featuring five giant paddling pools, seaside shows, foam parties and flash mob-style performances.

A new summer food court has also been created for the event, representing a £25,000 investment.

A smokehouse grill will serve the likes of smoked beef brisket, Alabama grilled chicken and smashed Texas beef burgers and five new wood-fired pizza ovens have also been brought in.

One of those is a dedicated gluten free pizza oven and additional staff allergy training has been undertaken to update guidance for Coeliac and other food intolerances.

Ivor Robinson, who runs the attraction with his brother Tom, said: “Since we diversified the farm over 20 years ago our aim has always been to deliver wholesome outdoor fun for families. From the activities to the food, we want every part of your day to create new memories and treasured experiences.

“We are so proud of our staff who have worked hard to create an authentic beach feel in landlocked Staffordshire. Expect mouthwatering grilled flavours, traditional pizzas and trend setting desserts.

“With the majority of produce homegrown or locally sourced it also means that when you buy a meal you know you are supporting local farmers and producers, so it is not only good for you but your community as well.”

The new 30m by 15m assault course is made from locally sourced, sustainable Robinia timber and will feature 12 new activities.

Tom said: “Being outside has so many health benefits for children with the sea, sand and laughter of seaside holidays creating cherished memories for many families. Burton is about as far away from the seaside as you can get in the UK, so we wanted to help families enjoy the thrills and enjoyment of being at the beach without the long car journey to get there.

“This year we have added so much more to keep youngsters entertained. With two additional giant pools, flash mob style performances, extra seaside shows throughout the day and a whole new Texan Smokehouse range of BBQ grill and wood fired pizzas there is plenty to keep the whole family entertained.”

The farm park’s famous Mega Slide – the UK’s longest outdoor mega slide – is also returning for this year as is its maize maze.

The Farmarama event launches tomorrow.
