Former Royal Stafford factory shop to reopen – with a limited selection of local ceramics up for grabs

1 min read

The new owners of Royal Stafford’s historic pottery site in Stoke-on-Trent will reopen its former factory shop next week.

A limited selection of Royal Stafford ceramics will be available at the new Cornishware seconds shop opening on Wedgwood Place, in Burslem, on Tuesday (5 August).

Cornishware’s owner TG Green & Company acquired Royal Stafford’s facilities, machinery and retained some of the staff when the firm collapsed in February due to falling orders and increasing energy costs.

More than a dozen former Royal Stafford workers have been taken on by the firm, which has vowed to maintain a base in the city.

The shop has created two new jobs, one of which has been filled by an ex Royal Stafford employee.

As well as a selection of Royal Stafford pieces available while stocks last, customers will also be able to pick up Cornishware products – known for its striped kitchenware – at 30 per cent off compared to first quality prices.

The seconds products for sale are pieces that don’t quite meet the rigorous standards for first-quality stock but are still ‘beautiful and fully-functional.’

Charles Rickards, Managing Director at TG Green & Company, said: “We’re thrilled to be opening our new Seconds Shop here in Stoke-on-Trent – the heart of British ceramics.

“We know how much people treasure Cornishware in their kitchens and homes, and this is a great way to offer customers exceptional value while supporting British manufacturing.”

The shop will be open between 9am and 4pm Tuesdays to Saturdays.

The first 10 visitors on the launch day will receive a free Cornishware goodie bag.
