A Staffordshire dad has launched a new jewellery business with the aim of supporting men’s mental health.
Steve Hough, who has worked in e-commerce for around 30 years after starting his career at Wedgwood and Fiskars, launched Origins Jewellery three weeks ago after spending up to a year developing the brand alongside his full-time role leading the e-commerce team at Steamforged Games.
The jewellery is designed in the UK and manufactured in China, with products shipped to Steve’s home in Westbury Park, near Newcastle-under-Lyme, for packaging and distribution.
Origins focuses on premium-grade stainless steel, chosen for being durable, hypoallergenic and considered more sustainable than gold or silver mining. All pieces come with a lifetime guarantee against tarnishing and scratching.
The brand’s wider purpose is to support men’s mental health. Customers will be able to vote on which charity receives donations from the business, with plans to review the system based on feedback.
Steve, who grew up in Knutton and is a dad of two, said he was drawn to jewellery after researching potential products to sell online.
He said: “I’ve only ever worn my wedding ring, but the more I looked into it, the more I realised how personal and meaningful jewellery could be.
“I have suffered losses and grief in my life and it means a lot to me to be able to support men’s mental health through the business.
“My intention is to build this as big as possible and eventually be in a position to employ people. That’s the dream.”
