Tinsdills Solicitors joins Talbots Law in major regional legal deal

1 min read

One of North Staffordshire and Cheshire’s longest-standing law firms has been acquired by a Midlands company in one of its largest deals to date.

Tinsdills Solicitors, which has offices in Leek, Newcastle, Hanley and Sandbach, is now part of Talbots Law, which operates across the Black Country, Birmingham, Coventry, Shropshire and Worcestershire.

The acquisition will see the Tinsdills name retired and around 85 members of staff across its four offices become part of the Talbots Law network. All existing Tinsdills staff will remain in place, continuing to serve clients from their current offices.

Peter Hamilton, business owner and chairman of Tinsdills Solicitors, said: “We’re excited to be joining Talbots Law. While our name will retire, this move allows us to build on our legacy and embrace new opportunities for growth and enhanced client service.

“Our clients can rest assured that the trusted relationships they have built with our team will remain – now backed by the strength and shared values of an employee-owned firm.”

The move forms part of Talbots’ wider strategic growth plan, with a focus on expanding its reach across the Midlands and into the North-West. The addition of Tinsdills extends its footprint to 19 offices and lifts combined turnover to more than £40 million.

Dave Hodgetts, CEO of Talbots Law, said: “Since becoming an employee-owned trust (EOT) in 2021, we’ve been focused on both organic and acquisitive growth to accelerate our presence. North Staffordshire and Cheshire have long been ‘target’ areas for us, and there are few firms as respected as Tinsdills Solicitors whose roots date back to 1580.

“The decision to join forces was easy – our values align, and we share a deep commitment to supporting local people and businesses. Tinsdills’ client service is ranked as top 15 nationally on Review Solicitors, which speaks volumes.”
