New monthly artisan market to launch in Leek

1 min read

A new monthly artisan market is set to launch in Leek as part of a push to revitalise the town centre.

The first event will take place on Friday, 19 September in the recently refurbished Trestle Market Hall, which has undergone a £3.4 million transformation to create a more welcoming and accessible space, including a new entrance from the High Street.

The market will feature 27 artisan stalls inside the hall alongside three permanent food vendors, while a further 23 stalls and street food traders will be set up outside. Live music from local DJs and musicians and free craft activities for children will also form part of the event.

The market is being organised by Independent Street, with support from Staffordshire Moorlands District Council and High Peak Borough Council

Lisa Cowley, founder of Independent Street, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be launching these new monthly markets in Leek. The revamped Market Hall is a perfect example of how thoughtful investment in traditional market towns can help revitalise communities and support independent businesses.

“At Independent Street, we’re passionate about celebrating small enterprises, and this event is a fantastic opportunity to connect people with local talent, creativity and enterprise.”

Future markets will be held on 17 October, 28 November and 12 December.
