A pottery company in Stoke-on-Trent has been acquired by another local well-known name in the industry.
Topaz China, based at Adderley Works in Longton, has been taken over by Susan Rose China which has a workshop in Longton and offices in Newnham, near Daventry.
Topaz will continue to operate from its current base and is expected to remain a separate company from Susan Rose China for the next three years.
One new member of staff has already been employed at Topaz with another imminent appointment expected to replace two retiring directors.
Topaz China has a reputation for producing high-quality bone china articles from household tableware to decorative pieces.
Susan Rose Chna is celebrated for its personalised and hand-decorated bone china gifts.
A spokesperson for Susan Rose China said: “The coming together of these two companies is more than just a business transaction; it’s a testament to the resilience of a local industry.
“By combining Topaz China’s manufacturing prowess with Susan Rose China’s creative vision and market-savvy, the new entity is well-positioned for growth.
“For the community of Longton and the wider Potteries, this means the preservation of jobs, the continuation of traditional skills, and the promise of a thriving future for British-made bone china.”
Both companies employ five people.
