Bri-Stor wins Halfords deal to convert 60 vans to green technology

Bri-Stor Systems has secured a contract to convert 60 more Halfords mobile tyre fitting vehicles with green technology following a successful trial.

The Hixon-based business, which is part of The HEX Group, says the deal shows growing confidence in its Power360 lithium technology system, which cuts emissions, reduces fuel use and lowers maintenance costs.

The system is recharged while vans move between jobs, eliminating the need for engine idling during tyre fitting, providing a quieter and cleaner service for customers.

Halfords has already seen fuel savings of more than 30 per cent following a two-year trial of 20 vans. The company predicts annual CO₂ reductions of more than 1,200 tonnes across its 280-strong fleet.

Andrew Goodwin, sales and marketing director at Bri-Stor Systems, said: “This contract proves that sustainable technology isn’t just about emissions – it’s about hard commercial benefits too, with whole life cost savings more than offsetting the higher cost of green technology.

“Power360 helps fleets reduce in-life fuel costs from day one, extend vehicle life and futureproof their fleet, with added benefits of solid-state power systems and dual-life potential. We believe this sustainable tyre van is the model for every tyre fleet operator looking to stay competitive in tough times.”

Halfords’ director of operations, Karl Baker, added: “Our investment in 60 more Power360-equipped vehicles is based on hard evidence. The trials proved that lithium-powered systems deliver real-world savings on fuel, emissions and maintenance – all while improving the customer experience. At a time when every cost counts, this technology is helping us build a fleet that’s leaner, greener and fit for the future.”
