Lewis Martin is Restaurant and Event Manager at independent restaurant Lunar, based at the World of Wedgwood site in Barlaston.

Here, he gives an insight into the preparations being made ahead of the festive season and what will make Lunar special this Christmas.

“As the nights draw in and the air turns crisp, Lunar is already brimming with anticipation for an unforgettable festive season. Preparation begins well before December, with the team starting early in the year to ensure every detail is perfectly in place.

From establishing key dates for opening/closing, a collective discussion with the team on whether or not to open for Christmas day, developing menus that celebrate the best seasonal produce to coordinating staff training, designing the décor, and opening the diary for bookings, months of work go into creating the sense of magic guests experience the moment they arrive.

By the time December arrives, Lunar will undergo a magical transformation. Guests will be greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere, with soft lighting, festive greenery and carefully chosen table settings that strike the perfect balance of tradition and modern elegance.

This year’s highlights include a succulent Maple-Glazed Turkey Breast, perfectly balanced with a hint of sweetness; a Parsnip and Chestnut Croquette, crisp on the outside and full of seasonal depth within; and the quintessential Christmas Pudding, served with a warm brandy sauce for a comforting finale.

Each dish is presented with Lunar’s signature attention to detail, served on Wedgwood china and paired with thoughtful drink selections in Waterford Crystal to complete the experience.
