A University of Staffordshire graduate has been named one of Campaign’s ‘Faces to Watch’ thanks to her rising career in advertising.
Sophie Slim, who has lived in Stoke-on-Trent since 2019 when she started university, was highlighted by the UK’s leading advertising and media title as part of its annual list of emerging talent set to shape the future of the industry.
A graduate of The Challenger Academy’s summer internship programme – formerly the VCCP Stoke Academy – Sophie went on to work for content production studio Girl&Bear, part of the global advertising group VCCP.
She has worked with major brands including Cadbury, Walkers, Transport for London and Müller, as well as contributing to projects with social impact, such as Onwards & Upwards, a charity helping prison leavers into employment, where her design represented hope and new beginnings.
Sophie, who is originally from Cradley Heath in the Black Country, recently led the redesign of The Challenger Academy’s brand identity, giving back to the programme that first set her on the path into the industry.
She said: “I feel honoured to be named as a ‘Face to Watch’ this year – it was a lovely surprise. It means a lot to have my work recognised, and I am sincerely grateful to everyone who has encouraged and supported me on my journey to becoming a designer.”
Her manager Lee Bodell said: “Sophie is not just a designer, but a changemaker, someone whose creativity and purpose are already making a positive impact on the industry.”
