Major expansion for Brown Recycling as it invests £750k in fourth site

Brown Recycling has made a ‘major investment’ into its future with the acquisition of a fourth site in Stoke-on-Trent.

The firm’s new site, which represents an investment of £750,000, lies a few hundred metres away from its Sneyd Hill headquarters in Burslem and has been described as an ‘exciting step forward’.

It will allow Brown Recycling to centralise key operations, ease pressure on its existing facilities and improve overall efficiency as the business expands and grows.

The plot, which spans over an acre and includes a fully refurbished office and stores area, also provides the flexibility to adapt and scale operations in line with customer demand and wider industry developments.

Two appointments have been made to oversee the new site with Sid Whitehead being appointed as site manager alongside his existing position of engineering manager. Dean Mirza will be stepping up to the role of site supervisor from yard operative.

Both employees have been with the business for a number of years and Brown Recycling says their appointments demonstrate its ‘continued commitment’ to investing in people as well as infrastructure.

Rod Brown, chairman of Brown Recycling, said: “This expansion is testament to our long-term vision and commitment to sustainable growth.

“By investing in our infrastructure, we’re investing in the future of our people and our community.

“As we approach the business’s 100th anniversary in 2026, this development sets the stage for our next chapter where we remain as committed as ever to a cleaner, greener future for the region we proudly call home.”

Brown Recycling employs more than 130 people and has carried out work at the new site which includes enhancing the security, resurfacing, and the implementation of a new racking system.
