Staffordshire’s importers and exporters will be confident in their compliance and better protected against HMRC penalties thanks to a new Customs Compliance Audit service offered by Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce.

The service is led by Allison Tomlinson, Head of International Trade, who has earned the International Trade Compliance Manager qualification, a professional certification recognising advanced expertise in customs regulations, export controls and global compliance strategy.

Allison’s expertise equips her to deliver high-level guidance on international trade compliance, including risk assessments, documentation audits and training for businesses navigating complex customs requirements.

Allison said: “As regulations and HMRC inspections continue to evolve, it is vital that local businesses take proactive steps to manage compliance.

“Our audits give companies clear insight into their trade procedures, highlight potential risks, and ensure they are fully prepared for any HMRC review.

“It’s about helping businesses operate confidently and efficiently while avoiding costly penalties.”

The launch of this service comes at a time when international trade is becoming increasingly complex, with stricter customs checks and rising regulatory scrutiny.

Staffordshire businesses can now access expert support locally, helping them stay ahead of inspections and maintain smooth, compliant operations.
