Major investment will see Kyocera relocate European HQ to Lichfield, with new jobs boost to come

A carbide tooling company has announced it is making a significant investment into relocating its European headquarters to Lichfield.

Kyocera SGS Precision Tools will be moving from Wokingham, in Berkshire, to the Kyocera Unimerco facility at Fradley Business Park later this year.

The move will create Kyocera’s largest carbide tooling manufacturing site in Europe and investment into the purpose-built 6.4-acre facility will significantly increase production capacity and introduce enhanced research and development capabilities, enabling greater innovation while supporting sustainable growth within the region.

New roles are expected to be created across manufacturing, engineering, research and development, logistics and operational support.

Hugh Welch, European managing director of Kyocera SGS Precision Tools Europe, said: “This relocation marks an exciting new chapter for our business and for the Fradley community.

“By establishing our European headquarters here, we are creating new skilled jobs, investing in local talent and contributing to the long-term prosperity of the area.

“Fradley’s strong industrial heritage and excellent transport links make it the ideal location to support our continued growth and commitment to UK manufacturing.”

The relocation forms part of Kyocera Corporation’s global strategy to become the world’s leading carbide tooling company.
