A performance and leadership strategist who rebuilt his life after personal tragedy is turning his attention to supporting business owners in Staffordshire.
Dave Williams, an international speaker and author, says he was on the brink of suicide after losing his partner, Helen, to sudden heart failure.
His determination to honour her memory saw him launch a coaching business, contribute to bestselling books and work with leading UK and international organisations.
Following a recent move to Newcastle-under-Lyme, Dave has begun building links with local firms through Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce and is now looking to bring his coaching expertise to organisations across Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle. Previous clients include Toyota, the Priory, Cadbury, Aldi and four UK police forces.
His work, he says, is driven by the strength he found while recovering from the loss of his partner in 2015.
Dave said: “Hel died when she suffered a heart attack while driving. I was in total darkness, at rock bottom, at one point I sat in the kitchen with a sharp knife across my wrist.
“I pretty much lost everything I cherished, Hel, my business and even my sanity. We all have choices and I took the choice to fight back and thrive, instead of just existing. I strongly believe that no matter the situation we find ourselves in, we all have the capacity to make the situation better in life and business.
“My mission, is to empower people to break through limitations and unlock their true potential.”
Born in Liverpool and raised in Chester, Dave enjoyed a successful management career before moving into business coaching around a decade ago. He has since launched the Management M.A.S.T.E.R.Y University programme, written his book Confidence for Life, co-authored four further books and spoken at events across the globe.
He said: “In business, the reality is most managers are struggling, they need the real skills to thrive. That is the basis of why I launched the Management M.A.S.T.E.R.Y University as the same issues exist today as they did 40+ years ago when I started.
“When it comes to leadership development, most businesses focus on strategies – time management, etc, but these only amount to 20 per cent of the solution. The key to true management is 80 per centpsychology. This is where my programme works and gives an ROI of 20 per cent increase in turnover/productivity, on average.
“I also offer one-to-one coaching and that is where I am looking to work where possible with local business owners here in Staffordshire.”
