Broadcaster and music lover John Suchet, best-selling historian Alison Weir and author and comedian Robert Newman are among the stars on the line-up for this year’s Lichfield Literature Festival.

The event returns for a 20th year next month with leading authors addressing wide-ranging topics from their recent book releases covering everything from politics to environmental science, history to fiction and comedy to cuisine.

Others set to appear over the four days include former Conservative Chief Whip Simon Hart, Guardian parliamentary sketch-writer and satirist John Crace, biographer of the now former Duke and Duchess of York Andrew Lownie and journalist Lucia Osborne-Crowley, who reported daily from the Ghislaine Maxwell trial.

The festival takes place from 19 to 22 March with general booking opening on 10 February.

Director Damian Thantrey said: “Our spring Literature Festival continues to go from strength to strength and we’re thrilled with the list of authors who will be joining us in March for our 20th anniversary season.

“With 22 events across four days, there are highlights aplenty whatever your interests, so please do come and join us to celebrate the power of books and words to move, inspire and provoke conversation!”
