Lucideon’s innovation across the nuclear industry was showcased to a Japanese delegation visiting its North Staffordshire headquarters.

The Stone-based technology company hosted delegates from Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and JANUS, a leading technical consultancy in the country’s nuclear energy sector.

Discussions took place around the latest innovations in decommissioning, with the group also visiting Cavendish Nuclear in Warrington.

Lucideon and Cavendish Nuclear recently agreed to work together to address global decommissioning challenges, with a focus on nuclear waste management and decommissioning in the Japanese market.

The two companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to explore how advanced geopolymer materials can be used in the industry.

Lucideon’s chief executive Tony Kinsella said: “It was a privilege to host METI and JANUS along with our partner Cavendish Nuclear at Lucideon HQ in Staffordshire.

“Our open discussions included the impressive progress in Japanese decommissioning and the ongoing need for materials technology innovation.

“With Cavendish Nuclear, we are creating a powerful partnership to address some of the most complex waste management and decommissioning challenges in Japan and beyond.

“This visit was an important opportunity to showcase how we are accelerating innovation across the nuclear industry.”
