Leek Building Society is celebrating a historic double victory at this year’s British Bank Awards, walking away with the headline title of UK’s Best Building Society 2026, alongside being named Best Specialist Mortgage Provider 2026 for the third year running.

The awards, which are based on customer votes and reviews, recognise excellence across the UK financial services sector and celebrate organisations delivering outstanding service and support to customers and intermediary partners.

The dual award success reflects the Society’s continued commitment to member-focused service, specialist mortgage expertise and community values, while reinforcing its position as one of the UK’s leading mutual lenders.

Winning Best Specialist Mortgage Provider for a third consecutive year highlights the Society’s tailored approach to lending and its strong relationships with mortgage intermediaries. The award recognises the expertise and personal service delivered across specialist areas including Shared Ownership, New Build and Buy-to-Let lending.

Founded more than 160 years ago, Leek Building Society remains committed to offering competitive savings products, award-winning mortgages and a personalised approach to customer service, while staying true to its purpose of being a force for good within the communities it serves.

Andy Deeks, Chief Executive Officer at Leek Building Society, said: “Winning these awards is a proud moment for everyone at Leek Building Society.

“To be recognised nationally as the Best Building Society, while also retaining the title of Best Specialist Mortgage Provider for a third consecutive year, is a fantastic achievement, and testament to the outstanding work that my colleagues show day in, day out to deliver our purpose to be a force for good for savers and borrowers.”

For the Society, these awards provide further motivation to continue raising standards and delivering positive outcomes for members, brokers and communities across the region and beyond.
