Long-running kitchen company appoints liquidators

A fitted kitchen and bedroom provider which had been trading for more than three decades has appointed liquidators.

Staffordshire Kitchens and Bedrooms Limited, which began trading in Newcastle-under-Lyme in 1995, entered creditors’ voluntary liquidation earlier this month, appointing licensed insolvency practitioners Michaela Daly, director at BTG Begbies Traynor in Stoke-on-Trent, and Gareth Prince, partner at BTG Begbies Traynor in Birmingham, as joint liquidators.

The King Street business had experienced difficulties due to falling demand and ceased trading in February.

Director Shaun O’Donnell approached financial and real estate advisory group Begbies Traynor Group for advice on the company’s financial position, which led to the decision to enter liquidation.

Michaela Daly, director at Begbies Traynor Group, said: “Following a number of years of reducing demand and sales, the director of Staffordshire Kitchens and Bedrooms Ltd made the difficult decision to enter liquidation after approaching BTG for advice.

“It is a shame to see a business that has been operating for more than three decades close its doors as spending and disposable income remain stifled, and it was not a decision taken lightly by the company.

“Our priority now as joint liquidators is to carry out our role to provide the best outcome for creditors in line with statutory requirements and manage a controlled wind-down of the business.”
