Staffordshire Chambers reveals Responsible Business of the Year finalists for 2026 Business Awards

Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce has revealed the finalists for the Responsible Business of the Year Award at the 2026 Business Awards.

Sponsored by Rydale Roofing, the award celebrates both companies and charities making a significant impact in Staffordshire through social responsibility, community engagement, ethical practice and direct support for local people and organisations.

Now in its 11th year, the Staffordshire Chambers Business Awards is the largest business awards programme in the region. Winners will be crowned at a gala awards ceremony at Uttoxeter Racecourse on Thursday 9 July 2026.

The three finalists are:

Black Onyx Academy Ltd – A Stoke-on-Trent training provider whose S.A.L.T. (Save A Life Today) programme has delivered knife crime awareness and catastrophic bleed control training to over 100 organisations, with community action days in Hanley and Bentilee bringing 65 volunteers onto the streets. The business holds Armed Forces Covenant Gold Award status and supports veterans into employment through guaranteed interview pathways. Find out more, here.

Midlands Air Ambulance Charity – Operating from its Tatenhill airbase for 35 years, the charity attends around 4,000 missions annually at a cost of £16m, funded entirely without government or National Lottery support. The charity holds Investors in People Gold status and an Outstanding CQC rating. Find out more, here.

amb Insurance Services Ltd – As the Staffordshire Chambers’ only independent Chartered broker, amb has spent 28 years building a reputation on advice-led client work and genuine community responsibility, raising over £25,000 for the Peter Pan Centre, redirecting its Christmas gifting budget to local charities, and embedding community giving into its day-to-day culture through what the business calls the amb Way. Alice Charity – Supporting children and families across Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme, Alice provided support to 9,874 children in 2025, delivering 11,880 meals and 7,691 Christmas gifts alongside crisis intervention and home-based family support. Find out more, here.
