A site manager at a Staffordshire housing development has been recognised among the best in the country after winning a national housebuilding award.

Neil Dutton, who oversees Cameron Homes‘ Octara Court development in Yoxall, has received an NHBC Pride in the Job Award, placing him among the top six per cent of site managers nationwide.

The annual awards are regarded as the highest accolade for site managers in the housebuilding industry. This year, 450 winners were selected following thousands of inspections carried out across 7,500 developments throughout the UK.

Judges assessed entrants on consistency, attention to detail, leadership, technical expertise, interpretation of drawings and specifications, and health and safety standards.

Lewis Brazier, head of production for Cameron Homes, said: “We are so proud of Neil for bringing home this award for Octara Court. Pride in the Job recognises site managers who achieve the highest standards in construction and that is exactly what he and his team have delivered at this bespoke development in Yoxall.

“Neil’s commitment, leadership, experience, attention to detail and his overwhelming pride in the job are what makes him such an excellent site manager and ambassador for Cameron Homes.”

Neil, 50, has worked for Chasetown-based Cameron Homes for a decade and Octara Court is the seventh development he has managed for the family-owned company. Alongside overseeing the gas-free development, he is mentoring apprentice Oli Ayres, who joined the business in 2024 after completing his GCSEs.

Cassandra Codling, senior regional director at NHBC, said: “Winning site managers demonstrate incredible dedication, passion, commitment and leadership to produce homes of exceptional quality.”

The Quality Award winners will now progress to the next stages of the competition, with Seal of Excellence and Regional Award winners announced in the autumn and the Supreme Award winners revealed in January 2027.

  • Cameron Homes is holding a summer garden party at Octara Court between 11am and 3pm on Saturday, 27 June. Prospective buyers will be able to have a guided tour of the new development. Attractions include catering by Yoxall’s Green Door Bakery, a local DJ and drinks served from a converted horsebox. Email marketing@cameronhomes.co.uk to secure a spot.
