The City of Stoke-on-Trent Sixth Form College has appointed an experienced leader with a track record of championing STEM education as its new principal.
Dr Simon Fox, who has spent more than 20 years in education and leadership, will take up the post later this year and oversee the college’s next phase of growth.
He began his career after completing a PhD in plant virology in Norwich before qualifying as a science teacher in 2003.
Simon has since held senior leadership positions across Norfolk, including five years as principal of an academy, and has served as deputy principal at East Norfolk Sixth Form College since 2018.
Throughout his career, he has developed a reputation for championing STEM education, inclusion and evidence-informed practice.
Speaking about his appointment, he said: “I am absolutely delighted to be joining the City of Stoke-on-Trent Sixth Form College as principal.
“Stoke-on-Trent has an extraordinary sense of place, cultural heritage and pride, and I am excited by the opportunity to connect that rich history with the aspirational future of the city, Staffordshire and its young people.
“I have already been struck by the warmth and ambition of the college community, and I can’t wait to work with students, staff, parents, partners and governors to help young people understand where they want to go, and give them the tools, confidence and aspiration to get there.”
As part of the Potteries Educational Trust, Simon said he is looking forward to working with schools and regional partners to help create pathways for young people to succeed.
