A Stoke-on-Trent estate agent has invested £30,000 into technology to support continued growth and prepare for major changes to the private rental sector.
Critchlow Estate Agents has made the investment following the introduction of new legislation earlier this year, including the Renters’ Rights Act.
The investment includes a new AI-powered system that automatically updates landlords on tenancy agreements and forwards invoices and statements through an app.
The company, which manages 150 rental properties in the region and recorded £69 million of house sales in 2025, also relocated to larger offices at Federation House in Stoke last month.
Talking about the technology investment, director and founder Martin Critchlow said: “This has been a significant investment, which has enabled us to not only increase our efficiency, but is also a key development in our strategy in going forward.”
The firm’s lettings department has also undergone a ‘significant transformation’ this year, with a strong focus on compliance and customer service.
Martin said: “The private rental sector has undergone the biggest legislative changes in a generation through the Renters’ Rights Act and our team has proactively reviewed processes and we have maintained regular training to ensure our clients are fully prepared for the evolving landscape.
“We have raised our own compliance standards and invested substantially in new technology to create a service ready for the future, whilst at the same time setting a benchmark locally.”
He added: “It is imperative we continue to provide the best service we can as we now push forward into our next 12 months.”
Founded in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic, Critchlow Estate Agents has experienced steady growth and has so far sold more than 1,035 properties.
It now boasts an eight-strong team covering residential and commercial sales and lettings.
The company received a second Gold Award from the British Property Awards earlier this year and a new website has been launched allowing customers to book viewings online and create shortlists of properties.
