Café expansion to bring new pilates studio to town centre

1 min read

A health and wellness café set up less than 12 months ago is expanding into a bigger unit – and adding a pilates studio.

Brew was one of the first businesses to open at Town Hall Place, in Tamworth when the affordable retail space was completed earlier this year.

Founder Amy Collins, aged 19, has now signed a lease on a privately-owned unit opposite the Town Hall, once occupied by Bonmarche, but vacant for several years.

The expanded café will feature an on-site kitchen, more seating and additional cosy spaces, with Amy’s partner Charlie Edge joining her.

Charlie, also aged 19, a Tamworth FC player and health enthusiast, will create a pilates studio on the first floor of the premises.

Amy said the new unit is currently being fitted out and hopes it will be ready to open later this year.

She said: “I’m so excited! I underestimated just how popular we would be and how quickly it would take off. Within a few months, it was clear we needed somewhere bigger. We have eight members of staff already and it’s going really well.

“The new unit is perfect as there’s lots of room to grow and hold events.”

Town Hall Place forms a central part of Tamworth’s town centre regeneration.

Seven units were created, each designed to encourage new businesses to start up and grow with flexible leases and affordable rents, alongside advice and support from Tamworth Borough Council.

Councillor Nova Arkney, portfolio holder for infrastructure and local economy, said: “This is great news, my congratulations go to Amy and Charlie for their success, and I wish them well on this next exciting stage of their business journey.

“Town Hall Place was designed to bring more variety to the high street by making it easier for independent niche businesses to start up and grow. It’s fantastic to see it working, with Brew now growing and taking a bigger unit that has been empty for years.”
