Stoke-on-Trent clay manufacturer Valentine Clays is entering the ceramic glaze market following the success of its first low-fire stoneware range in the UK.
The company is expanding its LoStone range with new casting slips and its first collection of ceramic glazes, marking the company’s entry into the glaze market.
The additions follow the launch of LoStone in 2025, a low‑fire stoneware body developed at the firm’s Fenton headquarters. The innovation has since received two regional awards for science and technology.
Three new casting slips — Frost, Sea Mist and Ember — will extend the LoStone technology to slip‑casting ceramicists.
Valentine Clays is also releasing ten mid‑fire glazes, suitable for LoStone as well as porcelain and earthenware, with firing temperatures between 1080°C and 1220°C.
Hannah Ault, CEO of Valentine Clays, said: “LoStone started with a very simple question: could we produce a genuine stoneware body that vitrifies at a significantly lower temperature?
“What began as one development project has grown into an entire range, and seeing it recognised with two innovation awards has been incredibly rewarding for the whole team.
“Expanding into casting slips and, for the first time in our history, glazes is a significant next step for us.
“To be developing and manufacturing new ceramic products here in Stoke-on-Trent, where our business has been based for more than 47 years, is something we are particularly proud of.”
Both products have been developed and tested in Stoke‑on‑Trent.
