Independent businesses making a difference to their community in part of Stoke-on-Trent are being encouraged to enter MP Gareth Snell’s Small Business Awards.
The awards aim to highlight the vital role small businesses play in keeping high streets vibrant, creating jobs, supporting local communities and driving the local economy.
Nominations are being sought ahead of Small Business Saturday on 5 December 2026, the nationwide campaign celebrating the UK’s small business sector.
Every nominated business will be featured on the MP’s official social media channels and receive a poster encouraging customers to vote for them.
Category winners will also receive a certificate recognising their contribution to the community.
Gareth, MP for Stoke-on-Trent Central, said: “I was delighted by the response to last year’s Small Business Awards and by the incredible range of businesses that were nominated.
“Small businesses are the backbone of our local economy. They create jobs, provide valuable services and help make our communities unique.
“I’m pleased to be bringing these awards back for a second year so we can once again celebrate the hardworking entrepreneurs, shop owners and business teams who go above and beyond for their customers.
“I would encourage everyone to get involved by nominating their favourite local business and helping us showcase the very best of Stoke-on-Trent.”
Last year’s awards attracted nominations for more than 70 businesses, with almost 1,500 votes cast.
Winners included Vellichor Books, HSL Pottery and Wards Property Management, while Sizzlers Fast Food picked up a Special Commendation for Charity Work and Taylor’s Butchers received a Special Commendation for Community Work.
