A brand-new family-friendly sports bar is set to open its doors in Rugeley tomorrow, creating seven new jobs and bringing a boost to the town centre. Â
AJ’s Sports Lounge, located on Brewery Street, will officially open on Saturday, 24 October.Â
The independent venue is the first venture from the owners, who say they want to create a welcoming space for families, sports fans and anyone looking for a relaxed night out.
The bar will feature 11 large-screen TVs, including a huge 100-inch screen, showing live sport from Sky and TNT Sports. Alongside the viewing areas, AJ’s will offer 12 professional English pool tables and five dart boards, complete with both traditional and electronic scoring.
Manager Josh Roberts said the team is excited to bring something new to the town.
He said: “We’re massive sports fans and we know there’s a real demand in Rugeley for pool, darts and a proper live-sport atmosphere,Â
“We want AJ’s to be a place where everyone feels welcome — whether you’re here for the match, a few frames of pool, a game of darts or just a chilled drink and some hot food.”
The bar will serve hot food daily, alongside a fully stocked and licensed bar offering a wide range of beers, soft drinks and non-alcoholic options. The venue will have spacious seating areas, pool and darts in designated areas and big screens positioned throughout the building.
AJ’s Sports Lounge will be open seven days a week, from 12pm to 11.30pm Monday to Friday, and 10am to 11.30pm on weekends. The owners say they hope the new venue will help increase footfall in the town centre and support neighbouring businesses.
Josh added: “We’ve invested a lot of time and passion into this project.
“We want AJ’s to work for the whole community, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone through the doors.”
