One-off vintage fashion comes to Tamworth

1 min read

An independent vintage and preloved clothing business is set to open in Tamworth tomorrow (3 October), giving shoppers a place to hunt for one-off finds.

Stay Tidy will offer an ever-changing collection of affordable branded vintage and pre-loved clothing, including streetwear, sportswear, outdoorwear and sought-after pieces from the 1990s and 2000s.

It is being launched by 26-year-old Lichfield entrepreneur Kai McConomy, who has already sold thousands of vintage and preloved pieces online and previously traded from Birmingham’s Custard Factory.

Kai said: “I want Stay Tidy to bring something different to Tamworth. Vintage is about finding that one piece you love that you aren’t going to see everyone else wearing.

“I want the shop to have a really good vibe – affordable, welcoming and somewhere you can some in, go through the rails and never quite know what you’re going to find.”

Kai’s route into business began after completing a Level 2 Retailer apprenticeship following his A-Levels. He launched his own vintage clothing business in December 2020 and will continue selling online alongside the new Tamworth store.

The shop can be found on College Lane, and offers a 15% discount for students alongside a loyalty scheme giving customers 50% off a purchase after collecting five stamps.

Kai also plans to build links with the local community, with future events including clothing swaps and a Stay Tidy running club.

To celebrate the opening, every customer who makes a purchase on the launch day will automatically be entered into a prize draw to win a vintage Barcelona football shirt, with the winner announced the following day.

Customers will also receive 10% off at local coffee shop Crave, as part of a launch-day collaboration between the two independent businesses.
