A logistics firm has opened its first site in Staffordshire to look after one of its biggest-ever contracts.
Miniclipper Logistics, headquartered in Leighton Buzzard, in Bedfordshire, has signed a ten-year lease on a 95,000 sq ft site on Avro Business Park in Burton upon Trent.
The base will function as both a warehousing and transport operation and comes after the firm won a five-year contract with a global brand of commercial air conditioning units.
The operation has created around 20 jobs and has also involved an investment into new vehicles.
Commercial Director Jon Parish said: “This is the first time our company has ventured out of central Bedfordshire, but our new Burton site is perfect for being a bit more central.
“It will be used for one of our biggest-ever contracts, which we have won with a customer we work with already at one of our Leighton Buzzard sites.
“It will also double up as a transport and distribution staging post.”
Miniclipper had just six weeks to get the site up and running for the customer after signing the lease and undertook a speedy programme of work to configure the site to accommodate the storage and transport operation.
An investment into Jungheinrich racking means the 81,792 sq ft warehouse can accommodate approximately 12,500 pallet spaces.
