GivEnergy looks to expand HQ and workforce with new property purchase as part of multi-million-pound North Staffordshire investment

Leading energy storage manufacturer GivEnergy has set its sights on further expansion after buying the neighbouring three-storey property to its current headquarters.

The acquisition, part of a multi-million-pound investment in North Staffordshire, opens up potential to create a multi-building global HQ complex in the heart of Newcastle under Lyme – with more jobs on the way by the end of the year.

Earlier this year, Daily Focus reported that GivEnergy bought Osprey House on Brymbo Road at Lymedale Business Park. The company turned the three-storey office building, formerly the site of Phones 4U, into its renewably-powered global headquarters.

Now, after a year of 500 per cent “hypergrowth”, the company has future-proofed its expansion by also buying the building next door.

The second Brymbo Road property is currently around 80 per cent occupied by SpaMedica on a lease basis. Initially, GivEnergy is considering using the available remaining space to accommodate its expanding operational activities.

GivEnergy’s current HQ can be seen on the left of the picture, with the new property it has purchased seen next to it.

Longer-term, this latest property acquisition opens the potential to expand the company’s HQ and accommodate its rapidly-growing software division alongside a dedicated operations centre.

Around 100 people currently work at Unit 1 with ambitions to expand to 150-plus additional employees in one large group complex, with some of these roles set to be filled before the end of 2023.

Jason Howlett, Group CEO of GivEnergy, said: “Acquiring the adjacent property on Brymbo Road represents massively exciting prospects for GivEnergy as we scale.

“We now own two side-by-side three-storey properties so, we can accommodate our immediate growth as well as position ourselves for even more scaling in the future.”

The purchase of Unit 2, Osprey House, is just one acquisition in a chain of portfolio investments for the growing energy storage firm.

GivEnergy Whitmore Road land
GivEnergy has also acquired land on Whitmore Road, in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

As well as the HQ, property-wise, GivEnergy has invested in two new custom-built Stoke-on-Trent manufacturing facilities, and purchased a large plot of land on Whitmore Road, in Newcastle-under-Lyme, for a future eco-friendly project.

Elsewhere in the UK, the company has also purchased an additional office and warehousing site in Hull to support its growing distribution networks.

GivEnergy has also made a slew of investments in growth. In 2023 alone, this includes teams in Europe and Australia, the acquisition of Satori Education under its daughter company (GivEducation), and the hiring of over 50 additional UK office staff to date.
