Charity seeks support for important Motown fundraiser as demand on resources reaches all-time high

A charity which helps homeless families is looking to the business community to support a soul and Motown-themed fundraiser next month.

The Gingerbread Centre is holding an evening of fun and entertainment at Port Vale Football Club on Friday, 19 April.

Topping the bill are Detroit Magic, one of the UK’s favourite show bands, and the night will also feature String Infusion playing their electric violins and cello.

Event and sponsorship opportunities are available, as are tickets for businesses who wish to attend.

As well as music and a three-course meal, there will be an auction with prizes including a bottle of limited-edition gin created and signed by Wizzard frontman Roy Wood, who teamed up with Uttoxeter’s Nelson’s Distillery and School last year to celebrate the 50th anniversary of his hit I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday. Only 200 bottles were produced and a small number of them signed.

Fundraiser Chris Belyavin said: “This is an important event for us not only from a fundraising point of view as demand on our resources is at an all-time high but also because it enables us to continue to build relationships with local businesses.

“Developing corporate support is a key part of our fundraising strategy going forward. It has been growing over the last couple of years and we want to see that growth continue.

“By supporting this event, not only can local businesses support a local charity helping local families who have unfortunately lost their home but they can also enjoy a great night out with fantastic food, great entertainment with the possibility of winning some great prizes. Where else could you get a bottle of gin signed by Roy Wood?

“It also provides a great opportunity to network with other businesses.”
