The UK’s largest manufacturer of gourmet sausages for dogs has invested £225,000 into opening a fourth site in Burton upon Trent.
Pet Treats Wholesale, which was established by a trained chef who wanted healthy treats for his dog, has set up a larger packing and fulfilment provision at Crown Industrial Estate following continued growth.
A £175,000 packing line has been installed, with other investments spent on racking, flooring and other new equipment.
The 7,750 sq ft unit is now a base for 10 members of the company’s 59-strong workforce, including two new recruits.
Director Louis Jolivet said: “Due to our continued growth, we needed to find a larger unit to house our packing and fulfilment part of the business.
“This site will give us another 500 pallets worth of storage space and we have invested in a new packing line to go into it.
“We have 10 staff stationed there packing all the products that we manufacture. They will go into warehouse storage there before going into our picking and dispatch location in the town centre.”
Pet Treats Wholesale sells natural dog treats and gourmet sausages, which are manufactured in Burton using British meats and supporting local meat producers, direct to the public and to trade and wholesale customers.
The company now has four sites across Burton upon Trent including its main headquarters in Hawkins Lane.
Its new unit was let by commercial property agents and consultants Salloway, with the process from viewing to occupation taking just six weeks.

Pet Treats Wholesale was founded by chef Dominic Jolivet, who says the firm’s roots are firmly established in Burton upon Trent.
He said: “From humble beginnings using just a single oven, to becoming the largest manufacturer of gourmet sausages for dogs in the UK, Pet Treats Wholesale Ltd has been supplying treats to dogs (and their owners) since 2011.
“As a trained chef, I came up with the idea when trying to purchase treats for my own dogs, becoming increasingly frustrated with inferior, poor quality and sometimes mis-labelled imports on offer, which often made my dogs ill.
“By launching Pet Treats, we continue to offer pet owners high quality natural treats, including gourmet sausages made with only the finest quality British meats. We only provide British and EU approved products to ensure wholesome goodness, whilst supporting the British Farming Industry.”
