South Staffordshire College is putting out a call to businesses who might wish to boost their skills pipeline via the T Level route.
The College is delivering T Levels in animal care, electrical, early years, health, media and plumbing from September 2024.
Industry placements are a vital element – and firms are being asked to offer their support.
Students will benefit by gaining valuable experience while employers get the chance to attract motivated young people into their business.
The College is excited to be rolling out the brand-new two-year qualification which combines classroom study (representing 80 per cent) with learning out in the workplace (20 per cent).
T level qualifications support the College’s strategic objective of being able to successfully provide learners with the knowledge, attitude and practical skills needed to progress into employment, an apprenticeship or higher education while also addressing local and regional skills needs.
Developed with employers, they will prepare learners for work in a wide range of industry sectors by developing key skills, attitudes and behaviours needed to succeed in the work environment.
The industry placement gives an invaluable opportunity to allow young people on T level programmes to put knowledge and skills learned in the classroom into practice in a real-life scenario.
Learners need to complete an industry placement for a minimum of 315 hours which is approximately 45 days.
Employers taking part can benefit from:
- Developing existing employees’ mentoring and management skills.
- Creation of a more diverse and creative workforce.
- Improved recruitment pipeline to your business.
- Saving on recruitment costs by providing the opportunity to see what the young person can offer on a no obligation employment basis.
Business leaders who think they could provide a valuable placement opportunity for one or more of the learners are asked to email [email protected]
