Key residential development opportunities in Stoke-on-Trent – including the multi-million-pound city centre Etruscan Square scheme – are being promoted at the largest property event in the UK.
Stoke-on-Trent City Council has put together a prospectus featuring four sites in the city, which will be showcased to potential developers at UKREiiF which starts tomorrow.
The authority is looking to progress the development of these sites through the appointment of a long-term development partner with a view to accelerating residential opportunities across the city.
The prospectus has a clear focus on Etruscan Square, a high-profile seven-acre brownfield site in the city centre, as well as a package of strategic residential sites across the city.
The three other sites suitable for residential development highlighted are: Bucknall Road where 538 homes could be provided; Pyenest Street with potential for 200 homes and North Shelton with scope for over 300 homes.
Developers are being invited to learn more about the opportunity, and how they can get involved, at the annual three-day event which brings together the public sector, Government, investors, funders and developers from across the country.
Councillor Chris Robinson, Cabinet Member for Housing, Regeneration and Planning at Stoke-on-Trent City Council, said: “We’re delighted to be attending UKREiiF this year and pleased to be able to offer a number of unique and exciting opportunities for residential development in Stoke-on-Trent.
“The main focus is on Etruscan Square and, due to its high-profile, city centre location, we expect a lot of interest.
“We’re looking to bring on board the experience of a place-focussed regeneration developer or consortium and are keen to enter a long-term agreement able to address a portfolio of development sites.
“It’s our mission to provide the best housing and employment opportunities for people in Stoke-on-Trent and we are committed to ensuring the development of Etruscan Square is delivered with our local residents in mind.”
The Etruscan Square site offers scope for up to 300 mixed tenure homes. It is situated on one of the largest cleared, city centre regeneration sites in the Midlands – the site of an old bus station and former East-West Precinct.
Full planning approval has been secured for Phase 1 and outline planning for Phase 2. Site investigation work has been undertaken for the first phase with additional surveys planned for the Summer meaning that the scheme can be progressed at pace.
However, the planning position can be revisited and options for future phases are being considered including leisure and entertainment uses.
This will form part of a broader public engagement exercise being planned to take place over the Summer as reported in Daily Focus.
