Thompson Wright Chartered Accountants has been named a finalist for the Professional Services of the Year category at the Staffordshire Chambers Business Awards.
This category, sponsored by NSCG, recognises excellence and outstanding service in the professional services sector.
From humble beginnings in a small office space in 1983, the firm has grown exponentially.
Today, Thompson Wright operates from a larger office in the heart of Newcastle-under-Lyme, accommodating 100 staff members, with additional offices in Hale and Leek.
This growth reflects the dedication of the firm’s committed team and the steadfast support of its long-standing clients, many of whom have been with the firm throughout its four-decade journey.
The company is proud to have a director board with equal representation of males and females, a fact highlighted by Accountancy Age in November 2023. The publication noted, “Thompson Wright boasts the highest percentage of female partners at an even 50:50 split.” This balance extends to the firm’s management, with 5 out of 8 directors having progressed from manager roles, and 60% of leadership roles filled through internal promotions.
Thompson Wright places a high priority on training and supporting its employees, both personally and professionally. Structured in-house professional development programmes and full study support have resulted in 10 promotions within the last year alone. The firm also offers mental health and wellness support through a partnership with Westfield Health.
Thompson Wright actively supports and fundraises for charities, by supporting initiatives such as the One Million Step Challenge for Diabetes UK and bake-off events for Breast Cancer UK. The company also helped to install a defibrillator outside the Newcastle-under-Lyme office, in memory of a cherished employee.
The winner of the award will be announced at the highly-anticipated Gala Awards evening, taking place on Thursday, 4 July at the Doubletree by Hilton, Festival Park.
